Course syllabi are landing this week, and for anyone building a Canadian history reading list, there is a natural starting point.
The Dawn of Canadian History by Stephen Butler Leacock — yes, that Leacock, better known for his humour — is Volume 1 of the 32-volume Chronicles of Canada, covering the land and peoples of Canada before European contact and the first voyages to its shores. The Chronicles were written to make Canadian history readable, and a century later they remain exactly that. We keep the full series in print.
